Etsy Pricing Calculator
Most pricing advice says "multiply your cost by three." That formula quietly loses you money, because Etsy's fixed fees don't scale with price. This tool solves backwards: tell it the profit you want, and it returns the price that actually delivers it — then shows you the charm-price version and what happens if an Offsite Ads sale lands.

Why the usual formula fails
The standard advice is price = cost × 3, or price = cost ÷ (1 − fee rate). Both assume fees are a flat percentage. They aren't — $0.45 of every Etsy sale is fixed, regardless of price.

Pricing questions that actually change the number
Should I round up to a charm price?
Usually yes, and the calculator gives you the .99 version automatically. Charm pricing works on Etsy the same way it works everywhere: $24.99 reads as closer to $24 than $25 even though the difference is one cent. The catch is that rounding down to a charm price can cost you more than the charm gains — the calculator shows the exact profit at both, so you can see whether the gap is worth it.
How much does Offsite Ads change my price?
A lot. Offsite Ads adds 15% of the order total. On a product where you want $15 of profit, that can move the required price by $5 or more. Because attribution runs for 30 days and covers retargeted buyers who already knew about you, most shops see some ad-attributed sales whether they intended to or not. This tool assumes Offsite Ads applies unless you tell it otherwise — pricing for the worst case is the safer default.
Should I charge shipping separately or build it into the price?
It makes almost no difference to your fees, because the 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus the shipping you charge either way. It does affect how the listing looks in search — Etsy's algorithm favours free-shipping listings — and it affects what buyers perceive as the price. Enter both scenarios and compare the profit; the fee outcome will be nearly identical.
What if my target price is way above what competitors charge?
That's real information, not a calculation problem. If the maths says you need $45 and the category sells at $20, the product doesn't work at that cost structure — you'd need cheaper materials, a simpler design, or a different product. Bundling is the usual escape: sell three items as one listing so a single set of fixed fees covers more revenue.
Is a 60% margin realistic on Etsy?
For digital products, often yes — there are no materials or postage, so margins of 80%+ are common. For handmade physical goods, 40–60% after all fees and your own time is a more realistic target, and many sellers sit lower without realising it because they never costed their time in.
